In the Press: the Foray Kitchen Nook

IN THE PRESS   -   CountryStyle Magazine

It is an honour to share the Foray kitchen nook feature on the cover of CountryStyle Magazine this month of June 2026, along with the star of the shoot — my gorgeous cat Sage.
It is always a surreal experience to see a styling moment and design concept in print. Thank you to the team at Country Style for the privilege of styling this month’s cover alongside my sister, the most incredible photographer, Abbie Melle. We had the most wonderful time working together.

THE STYLED SHOOT

The day began with sourcing the stunning farm-grown burgundy dahlias from a local family at Goolma, Stoney Blooms. They personally dropped off buckets of dahlias handpicked at break of dawn so that we had them fresh for the shoot. I layered these with branches of oak leaves from my parent’s garden in a classic white vase, hand crafted by Tash, one of the potters that regularly feature in the Foray store.

I baked a simple country butter cake for the shoot, layered with peaches and raspberries, which was delicious with local cream from the dairy. I've added the recipe for you below, in case you'd like to make it yourself. It's particularly nice served warm, fresh out of the oven, on a winter's day.

In the kitchen I’ve styled an array of independent makers and artisan brands along with a few antique French pieces sourced from my private collection.

I love to collect and use a variety of ceramic pieces in the kitchen. The feature ceramic white vase is part of a collection release for the Foray shop. Also seen is a stack of my long-time favourite white plates and bowls by Kim Wallace, gorgeous fruit bowl and mugs by Ochre Ceramics, and the most exquisite gold pedestal dish by Melissa LeLouche.

The lovely green water glasses are Dutch and made from recycled glass, available with a matching carafe. At the sink, the ruffle hand towel in the deep rose colour is finest European linen by Hale Mercantile, a staple offering at Foray. Once you've experienced this linen at home, there's no going back.

I love to bring an antique work of art into any corner, particularly the kitchen. People spend so much time in this space that I always recommend hanging a prized possession or two where your eye can see it each day. The kitchen vignette is finished off with a rechargeable Rattan table tamp, a sweet piece from the seasonal drops by Isabella Walker Smith. The floor runner is a much loved rug design by Armadillo.

THE SPATIAL DESIGN

This particular kitchenette is a very special one to me, working within the constraints of a small and dark room. We opened it up to the natural light with a reclaimed window that fit perfectly above the painted cabinetry. This was also a labour of love, designing the kitchen around a vintage counter — and turning it into a kitchen nook of my dreams with the addition of hand cast brass Devol hardware, English taps, Italian marble stone top, and fireclay sink. The finishing touch was making a simple, linen curtain from a Hale Mercantile sheet into the softly draped covering for under sink storage.

I hope you are able to pick up a copy of CountryStyle magazine this June, and enjoy seeing this special cover in print.

With love
