Handwoven Luxury Basket Bag in Tan
The art of basket weaving is a hereditary profession handed down from one generation to the next.
Please note: the ribbon on this beautiful batch of Tan baskets is a luxury white hue (rather than the linen colour pictured)
FORAY is pleased to present a limited collection of luxury, handwoven baskets by Cata Catinella - as seen on GOOP and the Official Selfridges. Casa Catinella works conciously and slowly, ensuring high quality, sustainably sourced materials and products remain their number one priority.
Holding artistry and creativity to heart, none of these baskets are overproduced. Due to the very nature of hand-making, every piece remains unique, each with its own story to tell. Each of basket is also hand-tagged with the Casa Crest at their HQ in Sydney, Australia.
Measures approx 32cm high x 40cm across x 27 width approx
Maker Notes The raw material “elephant grass” grows abundantly in the low-lying flood plains around Bolgatanga in northern Ghana. It is a 100% sustainable natural material. The grass is harvested, dried and finally boiled to dye. The weavers split each length into two then roll it to give it more strength.
Each weaver has their own special techniques. Baskets take days to make depending on the size, design and intricacy of the patterns.
Handmade by creative artisans in Ghana. Each bag comes packed with instructions to gently sculpt into shape, if desired.
