A collection of wildflower bas-relief plasters - by Jocelyn Kempe
An exclusive Foray release.

The medium plasters showcase a variety of Spring desert flowers, poppy, globe mallow, veronika, and lavender.

La Fleur Vue is French for ‘The Flower Seen’. This collaboration is an apt observation of form and flower. One by one, the artist has gathered wildflowers and quietly preserved a piece of their beauty for years to come through the practice of bas-relief plaster.
I’ve always been drawn to objects that hold a sense of time and value,’ Jocelyn shares. ‘The kind of pieces that feel like they belong to a slower interior life, not decoration, but companions of sorts…’

Without ostentation, each piece carries a gentle presence. The bas-relief clay holds the form of living flowers, laced with delicate details, now ready for a place at hand in the living home.

A luminous collection of floral fragments preserved with intention. Dictated by the seasons — created in an act of contemplation — now ready to adorn quiet interior spaces. ‘A leaf, a stem, a small gesture from the natural world becomes something you can hold onto,’ reflects Jocelyn.

The natural materials of plaster provide a setting that is equally natural and imperfect while it is also charming and sensory — a perceptible memory of seasons past — held in the present. ‘I think of these pieces as companions rather than decor objects, offering a petite pause, a place to rest the eye, and a reminder that the handmade life is something beautiful to behold,’ Jocelyn writes.

Styling Notes: A decorative piece with sentiment and one of a kind beauty. Beautiful for styling as a flat lay ornament, on a shelf, or have this piece hung in a special antique frame.

introducing Jocelyn Kempe

Made within the contemplative studio of Jocelyn Kempe, each piece in the collection has been created individually as a natural work of art - bearing the impress of the seasonal flowers, natural desert sand, and the flow of the day.

Inspired by the antique French plasters, Jocelyn found on a trip to Europe, the artist discovered a calling of her own. ‘What began as a small experiment of pressing flowers into clay to see what might happen has slowly turned into something much more meaningful for me. Each piece begins with a real flower or object pressed gently into the surface of the clay, leaving behind the quiet imprint of something that once lived and moved in the world.’

Following a life of travelling all over the world, Jocelyn now resides with her family in the small village of Carefree, Arizona. From her studio vantage, looking across the vast desert landscape, she observes the birds and wildlife come and go while creating her still life scenes and plaster art.
